By Andy ArgyrakisDISNEY’S FAITH-BASED FRIENDSThere’s no sign of the tween market slowing down any time soon, and with that in mind, Disney continues to make a fortune from the scene’s music. Thankfully though, there are several faith-based stars within the movement, giving
Disney Channel Playlist (Walt Disney Records) some positive messages across the fun-filled sing-a-longs. In addition to radio regulars like
Demi Lovato, The Cheetah Girls and
Selena Gomez, the collection is led by believers
The Jonas Brothers (who turn in “Live To Party”) and
Hannah Montana (whose real life alter ego Miley Cyrus delivers “Let’s Go Crazy”).
U2’S LATEST SINGLEThough the days of physical CD singles are almost obsolete,
U2 has such a rapid fan base and wealth of B-sides that there’s still a market for the medium. On
Magnificent (Interscope), the song earns several club remixes exclusive to this edition including “Dave Aude’s Club Remix,” “Fred Falke Full Club Mix,” “Adam K and Soha Club Mix,” “Wonderland Remix” and “Redanka’s 360 Version.” Of course, those who prefer the original version can always turn to the group’s newest offering,
No Line On the Horizon, or even iTunes.
BUCKLEY’S BACK FROM THE VAULTSSo many rock stars have died way before their time, and
Jeff Buckley is certainly one of the many. Though the son of folk hero
Tim Buckley left us at a mere 30 via a drowning accident, his debut disc,
Grace (with the smash cover of
Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah,” later remade by
Kevin Max), is amongst one of history’s most revered. From 1994 to 1996, he toured the globe incessantly to support the project, which is reflected in the brand-new concert collection
Grace: Around the World (Sony Legacy). The CD/DVD set compiles 29 tracks from that era taken from various television programs, American club dates and random international appearances.
