DELIRIOUS’ CONCERT COLLECTION

One of England’s most influential modern worship acts returns to the concert circuit yet again to offer the CD/DVD set My Soul Sings: Live From Bogotá Colombia (Sparrow). Boasting 14 tracks in either association, the set list spans the group’s entire career including early cuts like “Deeper” and “History Maker,” plus newer tunes like “Rain Down” and “God is Smiling.”

THE FANGS OF FALLING UP

Though the title could very well incite fear in listeners, Falling Up’s latest CD, Fangs (BEC), is more accurately described as an adventure-filled concept collection. Similar in lyrical nature to the mythological stories of Star Wars or Lord of the Rings, the narrative finds the group at its most ambitious and artistic to date. From a stylistic perspective, expect an experimental alternative sound loaded with energy delivered in a much more methodical pattern than in the past.

ISRAEL GOES SOLO

Just for the record, Israel Houghton is still the leader of New Breed and will be touring with that very band alongside Chris Tomlin this spring and summer. However, the brand-new The Power Of One (Integrity) finds him returning to solo contexts offering up everything from old-school soul to traditional gospel to pop, rock and reggae.

MXPX UNDER COVER

Veteran pop/punkers MXPX continue their remake series with On The Cover II (Tooth & Nail). Similar to the first volume, round two finds the trio translating several retro favorites toward its high-octane outpouring. Top tunes include U2’s “I Will Follow,” The Clash’s “Should I Stay or Should I Go” and The Go-Go’s “Vacation.”
