By Andy ArgyrakisWHOA DADDY!Big Daddy Weave front man Mike Weaver will be the first to joke he’s a little round around the sides, but these days, physical fitness is the primary quest. By launching the “90 in ’09 Challenge,” the famed recording artist resolves to lose 90 pounds by the end of this year. “Our bodies are temples that God created,” he says. “I want to restore and take better care of what He has provided, as well as create a place to motivate and teach others to do the same. With ‘90 in ’09’ we’ll all be held more accountable because we won’t be able to hide the scales.”
THE COUNTRY SIDE OF SLIGH“American Idol” alum turned solo star Chris Sligh can now add a major songwriting credit to his résumé. The multi-talented performer recently co-penned Rascal Flatts’ new single “Here Comes Goodbye” alongside Clint Lagerberg (who also co-wrote Sligh’s smash “Empty Me”). The song appears on the country act’s upcoming album
Unstoppable (out April 7). Sligh, however, resolves to rock on his next studio CD.
GRITS EXPANDS ITS ENTOURAGEWhile GRITS’ latest studio CD scored mounds of critical acclaim, the rap duo is also expanding its overall industry reach with a recently launched record label. Dubbed Revolution Art, the company will allow artists to have a platform to freely express themselves, while simultaneously exposing them to national audiences via Provident-Integrity distribution. Expect projects from up-and-coming artists Stefan the Scientist and Jade Harrell sometime this year.
