COMING OUT OF THE WOODWORKAs mentioned in “
! 2008,”
Sixpence None the Richer has indeed returned, though ’09 promises the group’s first full-length studio CD since reuniting (after a recent EP and Christmas CD). Singer/songwriter
Joy Williams also comes out of hiding, heading toward the indie route (forming her own imprint, Sensibility Music) and promising new tunes that shy away from pure-bred pop in favor of more sophisticated troubadour stylings.
COOL CHRISTIAN FESTIVALSThough the line-ups have yet to be announced, the summer will be loaded with all the perennial favorites on the festival circuit. Early dates of note include Creation East (in Mount Union, Penn., June 24-27), Cornerstone (in Bushnell, Ill., June 29-July 4), Creation West (in George, Wash., July 22-25) and Purple Door (in Lewisberry, Penn., August 14-15).
SECULAR SUMMER FESTIVALSIt’s also uncertain just who’ll be appearing at secular soirées like the traveling “Vans Warped Tour” (all summer), Manchester, Tennessee’s Bonnaroo (June 11-June 14) and Chicago’s Lollapalooza (August 7-9), but all have hosted faith-based bands in the past. Keep an eye out for rosters on all of the above, and be sure to support spiritual acts at those major mainstream events!
