TOMLIN TAKES ON ARENAS
Very few Christian artists are capable of filling arenas,
but considering Chris Tomlin could very well be the most frequently sung artist
on earth, he probably won’t have any problems. The modern worship leader is
currently on a world tour in support of his new release, Hello Love (sixstepsrecords), though he won’t return to America
until early next year. Along with opening act Israel & New Breed, the
outing kicks off January 22, 2009, at Hershey, Pennsylvania’s Giant Center and
winds through early April just in time for GMA Week and the Dove Awards (where
the singer/songwriter is likely to walk away with at least another trophy or
two).
FORMER PETRA FRONT MAN GOES GLOBAL
Core fans of former Petra front man John Schlitt probably
already rushed out to their favorite retailer to pick up his latest solo
project, The Grafting, though faithful
fans overseas may have had a hard time finding a copy outside of the Internet.
Thankfully, that’s all about to change thanks to the legend’s recent signing
with Go Global Entertainment, which will literally distribute the collection
all around the world. Out of all the classic Christian acts, Petra had one of
the largest international followings, laden with both believers and
non-believers alike.
SANDI TURNS SEASONAL
The always versatile Sandi Patty may have recently recorded
praise and original contemporary Christian collections, but she’ll revisit her
Christmas offerings this winter on an intimate tour. Slated to cull material
from 2005’s Yuletide Joy (INO), plus
plenty of other holiday offerings, expect to hear the singer’s pristine pipes
once again in fine form. However, fans are going to have to flock to wherever
Patty’s performing since the outing is only visiting nine cities as of now,
including a “Twelve Days of Christmas” residency at the Meyerhoff
Symphony Hall in Baltimore, Md., from
December 10 through December 23.
