ACTS NAMED FOR ART*MUSIC*JUSTICE OUTING

Though this fall has no shortage of Christian concerts, one of the clear-cut ringleaders on the road is the "ART*MUSIC*JUSTICE Tour," spearheaded by singer/songwriter Sara Groves. Outside of that folk flavored critical darling, the bill features other acclaimed troubadours Brandon Heath, Derek Webb and Sandra McCracken, plus legendary author/artist/producer Charlie Peacock. Expect an extensive evening filled with provocative storybook songs, but also empowering information about how attendees can assist organizations like International Justice Mission and Food For the Hungry.

OSCAR STAR WITH SPIRITUAL CENTERING

After performing the Oscar-nominated “So Close” (from the Disney movie Enchanted) on the 80th annual Academy Awards ceremonies, singer/songwriter/pianist Jon McLaughlin became an instant household name. And while the Island Records artist is gearing up for an October 7 release in the mainstream, his sophomore CD, OK Now, will also be sold in Christian stores starting October 14, led by the single “Beating My Heart” (produced by John Fields, known for his work with Lifehouse, Switchfoot and The Jonas Brothers). “All I need to keep in mind in life is that it’s not about the little things that get me all stressed out, which is easier said than done, obviously,” he says of the song. “My life should be about my faith, trying to react to situations and treat people the way Jesus did...living the way He lived. I think maybe this is the reason why I am here; to experience life the way Jesus experienced life.”

 
HIGH FIVES FOR HANSON

Fellow faith-based pop/rockers in the mainstream Hanson are also letting their lights shine by reaching out to the impoverished in Africa throughout “The Walk Around The World Tour” this fall. Beyond performing much of its current CD, The Walk (Cooking Vinyl), plus past hits like “MMMBop,” members will introduce a website called takethewalk.net, which encourages communities to set up walk-a-thons that will find the band donating a dollar to one of five causes for every mile logged.
