THIRD DAY CRANKS UP THE AMPSThough Third Day regularly splits its albums between its rock roots and a softer side, the brand new Revelation (Essential) is arguably the band’s loudest since its self-titled debut over a decade ago. Though that first project is known for riff-heavy romps like “Consuming Fire,” this week’s endeavor is loaded with equally memorable material, starting with the lead single “Call My Name." Outside of the increased amplification, expect vibrant lyrics that find the foursome diving into personal reflections about Christ’s daily revelations both on and off the stage. Though the album is highly anticipated, a summer tour will bring these songs full circle, joined by the astute likes of Switchfoot, Robert Randolph & the Family Band and Jars of Clay.
HIGH FIVES FOR HILLSONGThe Australian worship movement drops its latest concert collection,
This Is Our God (Integrity), as separate CD and DVD installments. No matter what the format, the projects are packed with the most familiar Hillsong names from yesteryear, plus plenty of relatively new faces. Expect performances from Darlene Zschech, Reuben Morgan, Joel Houston, Mike Guglielmucci and Brooke Fraser, among many others.
ANOTHER DOSE OF U2After unveiling a trio of remastered CDs last week, Ireland’s most famous, spiritually-tinged sons U2 deliver another unique collection exclusively through Amazon.com. Titled
U2 Deluxe Edition, this box set includes the band’s first three projects (
Boy,
October and
War) in their entirety, plus bonus discs from each era loaded with B-sides, live tracks and rarities. Aside from the music, this set features a limited edition poster from Bono and the gang’s early-'80s heyday, but don’t let those dated digs and haircuts be a stumbling block toward trying the riveting and inspiring sounds packed within.
