Australia’s Hillsong United, which was the Gospel Music
Association’s International Impact award-recipient in 2007 and a Dove Award
nominee for Group of the Year in 2008, is one of the most popular young modern
worship bands in the world. The various conferences they have hosted around the
world have drawn thousands of young people and their church leaders looking to
immerse themselves in worship and gain a better understanding of how to bring a
lifestyle of worship to everyday life. Last year’s U.S. event, held in Orlando,
was sold out and attended by registrants from 43 states.
The Hillsong United Conference in Houston will feature
guest speakers including Hillsong Church’s senior pastor Brian Houston and
internationally renowned speaker (and former Hillsong youth leader) Phil Dooley
teaching registrants how young people can transform churches and communities.
Some of the breakout sessions will teach songwriting; building a great worship
team; youth ministry programming; evangelism; and using TV & media. The
Hillsong United band will provide music at the worship events.
The Hillsong United Conference is sponsored by Integrity
Live Events, part of Integrity Music of Mobile, Ala. The Hillsong team will
also visit Canada for a conference in Toronto on Aug. 29-30.
In April, Hillsong United released
The I Heart
Revolution: With Hearts as One, a new double album that
captures live worship from around the world. The CD release is the first part
of a three-part action plan for the band’s worship and social justice
initiative, The I Heart Revolution, that also includes a September release of a
DVD titled
We’re All In This
Together. Both the CD, which captures the “sound” of global
worship, and the DVD, which captures the “visual,” are aimed at creating
awareness for phase three - - the development of an online community and social
justice hub set to launch by fall.
The With Hearts As
One CD features 30 songs recorded live in various locations including
Scotland, Malaysia, France, Paraguay, Sweden and Brazil to name a few. The
album was produced by Hillsong United frontman Joel Houston along with guitarist
Jad Gillies and Andrew Crawford.
