Listen to the Sound (Essential Records)
FOR FANS OF: Chasen, The Museum, Third Day
QQQ
it’s no secret that
Building 429 has the
vocals, musicianship
and songwriting to
produce some hit
songs…they’ve given
us “Glory Defined”
and “The Space in
Between us.” This album is much of the same,
most notably on the track “Right Beside You”
where the band gets everything right. All the
tracks are melodic, strong and some of the
group’s very best work. Hints of sounds akin
to Newsboys and Third Day will make this not
a groundbreaking album, but a versatile one,
not to mention an undeniable good time.

As For Me and My house (City of Peace Media)
FOR FANS OF: Casting Crowns, Josh Wilson
QQQQ
Lots of listeners may
not have heard of John
Waller, but they’ve
probably heard his
song, “The Blessing,”
which he sang with
Casting Crown’s
frontman Mark Hall.
Now he offers a duet of a different kind…a
poignant marriage prayer sung with his wife,
Josee. it is among a solid roster of standouts,
including “our God Reigns Here,” which was
also featured on his previous album, and the
upbeat “Yes” (penned with Third Day’s Mac
Powell). The project revolves around Joshua
24:15, and Waller crafts plenty of eloquent
anthems that will encourage families and
couples alike.

Jesus Calling: Songs Inspired By (Sparrow)
FOR FANS OF: Christy Nockels, Chris Tomlin,
Matthew West
QQQQ
This project, inspired
by the book Jesus
Calling, is a beautiful
addition for anyone
who enjoys peaceful
worship music. Among
the well-selected
songs on the project
are new songs from Robbie Seay Band
and Luminate. one of the best on this
collaboration is the new song from Matthew
West (“Rest”); a piano tinged song with
an arrangement reminiscent of Hillsong.
Also making the cut is a soaring song from
Christy Nockels (“Healing is in Your Hands”)
and Chris Tomlin’s “All The Way My Savior
Leads Me.” This would be a more-than-
worthwhile addition to any music library.

Songstress Laura
Story may have
emerged on the scene
as, the girl who wrote
“Indescribable,” but
her latest offering
cements her as
so much more—a
stunning worship leader and vocalist. Her
voice is pure and flawless and each song is
perfectly arranged. Her songwriting has also
strengthened, and she shows depth and
maturity (hard-earned from her husband’s
battle with a brain tumor among other life
milestones), most exemplified on the title
track. Moments of pop work their way into
this mostly-worship project, and the result
is an incredible work of art.
