Fm static
My Brain says stop, but My Heart says Go!
(Tooth & Nail)
FOR FANS OF: Hawk Nelson, Stellar Kart
QQQ
Longtime FM static fans rejoice! Musically,
Trevor Mcnevan and steve Augustine seem
content in their long inhabited space. The
duo’s latest depends on the quirky pop/punk
traditions that led this far, from a spoken
word romp on the title track to the cheer-
along anthem “F.M.S.T.a.T.I.C.” that rides the
standard “put your hands in the air” language.
The tender heart of “Last Train Home” is the
album’s emotional center, but it’s mostly fluff
and fun all around.

Control (Forefront)
FOR FANS OF: The Killers, Maroon 5, Hearts of
Saints
QQQQ
The idea of relinquishing control to the
Lord takes center stage across Abandon’s
latest long player, which isn’t just its most
spiritually engaging to date, but also its
most musically explosive. Danceable rhythms
are plentiful amidst surging power chords,
contagious choruses and slick but not overly
sanitary production,
all of which are sure
to translate to the
concert stage. Aside
from the infectious
nature of the material,
one can’t help coming
away from the
listening experience with a reignited faith
and desire to maximize their potential.

FOR FANS OF: Coldplay, Jon Foreman, The
Beatles
QQQQ
On his sophomore
CD, Brandon Bee
ups the artistic ante
even further from his
critically acclaimed
2009 debut This Is
the Revolution. With
inspiration gleaned
from his time on tour, along with steady
production and songwriting collaborations
(Stacie Orrico, Matthew James, Lanae Hale),
the singer/songwriter/worship leader turns
in an absolutely anthemic album peppered
with a variety of emotional subjects. In
tackling everything from self-sacrifice
to putting family first and raising hands
in unabashed praise, Bee demonstrates
heart on sleeve sincerity with rarely rivaled
musical ingenuity.
