The biggest band in the world also retains
its place as the best throughout its latest
DvD chronicling last summer’s concert
extravaganza. With its most gigantic
production to date and a career spanning
set list, there’s endless action. Although even
amidst all the spectacle, Bono and the boys
still present plenty of spiritual sentiments.
Be sure to catch heavenly versions of
“Magnificent,” “Beautiful Day,” “Walk On”
and “One,” plus one of the greatest stadium
shakers in history “Where the Streets Have
No Name.”

The Suburbs (Merge)
FOR FANS OF: Wolf Parade, Temper Trap

The much-awaited
follow-up to Neon
Bible, Arcade Fire’s
brilliant sophomore
release, should leave
no doubt who rules
the realms of indie
rock. Perhaps the greatest musical collective
this side of Radiohead, the Montreal seven-
piece mesmerize once again on The Suburbs,
a collection that immediately recalls past
efforts yet stomps and stretches past
anything Win Butler & Co. have pulled off
before. “Month of May” features the familiar
tunnel vision of Neon Bible’s “Keep the
Car Running,” but the New Order feel on
“Half Light ii (No Celebration)” showcases
something fresh.

Though he just
released an
“inspirational” best-of
last year, Randy Travis’
latest all-Gospel
compilation focuses
on mainly hymns, plus
his watershed radio
hit, “Three Wooden Crosses.” Seamlessly
assembling public domain favorites from his
last decade of Christian music contributions,
the Country music star’s legendary bass
perfectly complements each track’s acoustic
charms. if you’ve yet to delve into Travis’
winning faith-based catalog, I’ll Fly Away
should provide a proper education.
