tired of Singing Sad Songs (self-released)
FOR FANS OF: Sara Groves, Emmylou Harris,
Andrew Peterson
QQQ
Armed with a piano, poetic lyrics and
production from Ben Shive (Andrew Peterson,
Sara Groves), New Orleans-bred singer/
songwriter Sara Beth Geoghegan turns in a
relatively compelling blend of folk and pop.
Even more magnetic than her generally
soothing but occasionally sleepy music are
the words packed therein, which are peppered
with sincere soul searching (“Woke Up To
Rain,” “I’m a Dreamer”) and authentic praise
(“Ooh, We Need Jesus,” “Hallelujah, What A
Mess”).

Derek Webb says
Caedmon’s Call feels
reborn after 16 years
together, and that
much appears evident
on their latest,
Raising Up The Dead.
With each member contributing to the
writing process, the sound remains varied
throughout—albeit in a very different way
than Share The Well. The album’s highlight,
without a doubt, is “Free,” although the
entire organic affair is worth hearing.

From Point of Grace
shows to newsboys’
latest record,
Johnson Roberts has
collaborated with
some of Christian
music’s brightest stars.
But it is his debut
solo record that truly shines, capturing the
multi-faceted instrumentalist/songwriter’s
full inventiveness. Whether pursuing fresh
perspectives of historic hymns like Celtic
fiddle drones on “What Wondrous Love
(How Deep),” or initiating infectious originals
like the newgrass-inspired mandolin funk
on “Hearts Cry,” Roberts’ acoustic talents
perfectly format his earthy Americana-Folk.
Theory of Colour sonically paints breathtaking
heartland scenes.
