ALBUM TITLE: To Know That You’re Alive

LABEL: BEC Recordings

RELEASE DATE: June 24, 2008

RECORDING STUDIO: Supernatural in Portland, Ore.; Big Fish in San Diego, Calif.; Lush in Philadelphia, Penn.; and countless hotels and hockey arenas along the east coast

PRODUCERS: Pete Kipley (MercyMe)

NUMBER OF SONGS: 12

THE MUSIC: Much more intricate for sure. Musically, it’s the best we’ve ever done. Some of the songs are the hardest hitting since our first self-titled album, but the Kutless variety is still there; we’ve got a couple of ballads for sure. –Jon Micah Sumrall

THE STORY BEHIND THE TITLE: We write about what we experience, especially stuff we see and feel on the road. With this record, we wanted to remind ourselves and our fans that through all of our life experiences– whether mundane, ordinary, thrilling, terrifying, sad, happy, whatever–that we are human and there is a hope and a God who loves us. That’s where [To Know That You're Alive] comes from. –J.M.S.

NO COMPARISON: We worked with a new producer for the first time, Pete Kipley. This record took us two to three times longer than any of our previous records. Almost all of this record was written collectively by the entire band. This record has no comparison to anything we’ve ever done before. –J.M.S.
