I Corinthians 15:3-5 “For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the thirds day according to the Scriptures, and that he appeared to Peter, and than to the Twelve.”
The season of Lent began recently on Ash Wednesday. For many, including myself, it is a time of fasting and prayer in preparation for Good Friday and Easter Sunday. I’ve always found the season of Lent to be a very special time of year because it focuses on what my Christianity is all about; th
e fact that Jesus Christ died on the cross from my sins and that he rose from the dead to bring me eternal life. In short, forgiveness of sins and freedom from death is what I meditate on and celebrate during the season of Lent. I’m not telling you this to sound pious, I’m telling you this because sadly I need to be reminded of why I’m a Christian. There’s so many distractions, so much busyness in life that sometimes I forget what it all is really about. But more importantly than that, the season of Lent is a celebration of the greatest news our world has ever known, so it’s a season where I’m reminded that I need to share that good news as often as possible. I hope that you’ll do the same as we all prepare for the celebration of Jesus’ resurrection on Easter.
