Isaiah 6:8 “Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, ‘Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?’ and I said, ‘Here am I, send me!’”
Have you ever told someone that God spoke to you? Depending on who you’re talking to, you may get a sympathetic nod, a confused look, or a submission slip to a psych ward. For whatever reason, it’s not considered normal to hear from God. In fact, if you dare claim to hear from God, you may get treated the same as Horton in Horton Hears A Who. Many of Horton’s fellow jungle creatures didn’t treat Horton very nice when he
claimed that he could hear the desperate cries of all the Who’s in Whoville, but that didn’t stop Horton from caring or listening. Just like Horton, we shouldn’t stop listening to God just because the idea of God speaking to people makes other people uncomfortable. The good news is God does still speak, and he wants to speak to you. Our choices are to either refuse to listen so other people won’t think we’re weird, or not worry about what other people think and just enjoy the fact that a loving God want’s to have relationship with us and talk with us on a daily basis. To know that we can hear from God in good times and bad, is something I think could be considered good news.
