May 16, 2008 Matthew 9:36-38 Daily Word
Matthew 9:36-38 “When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. something else that may shock you; around 95% of American Christians have never helped another person discover salvation through Christ. In short, most Christians aren’t sharing the good news. That’s just about the saddest thing I’ve ever heard. In world with so much bad news being reported on a constant basis, you know that people are desperate to hear something good. We as Christians are sitting on the best good news that has ever been shared with the world – freedom from sin, forgiveness, love, eternal life – and yet we’re not telling anyone because what, we’ll be uncool, people might be rude, it’s awkward? When I look at the headlines every morning and see all the despair, the hurt, the suffering, the pain and hopelessness this world experience on a daily basis, I realize there is no good reason for me not to share the good news of Jesus Christ. So this week, let’s pray that God will give us all an opportunity to share his good news with at least one person. If we can do that, then perhaps this world will begin to change, one person at a time, through the good news of the gospel.
