In our ongoing effort to find out more about our favorite artists, we’ve developed a series to show the more personal side. The Last Time asks the all-important questions about movies, music and laughter. For this round, we’re pleased to feature talented vocalist Jody McBrayer, who just released his inspirational solo debut after several years in the celebrated vocal group Avalon.

The last album you purchased?
Chris Stapleton, Traveller

The last concert you paid to attend?
Adele. I haven’t attended yet, but I’ve got tickets to the Nashville show.

The last TV show you binged watched?
The Walking Dead (FYI: you cannot snack and watch this show. Gross.)

The last book you finished?
A Generous Orthodoxy by Brian McLaren

The last time you were surprisingly moved by a piece of music?
This happens constantly, but the latest would have to be when I first heard “Faithful To The End” from the Bethel live album, Have It All.

The last great movie you watched?
About Time. It’s a British dramatic comedy that is equal parts hilarious and touching. It’s probably my favorite right now.

The last time you laughed uncontrollably?
This happens on a daily basis. The people, my family, that I travel with on the road are some of the funniest people I have ever met in my life. We joke about how we all need to wear Depends because we laugh so much.

The last memorable exchange with a fan of your music?
I have supporters of my music message me on social media everyday. Just this week, someone said they were given my record by a friend and hadn’t planned on listening to it. This person had been in an extremely difficult place in their life and just didn’t want to be preached to. However, they did end up listening to the album, Keep Breathing, during a road trip and God used one of the songs on the project to facilitate a breakthrough in their life.

Nothing makes me happier than when I know the songs that God has given me make a connection with the listeners. That’s why I do what I do to begin with — to inspire, encourage and maybe even bring about positive change in someone’s life.
