Silent Night
by Chris Tomlin

An amazing transaction took place in that stable in Bethlehem. Our Lord Jesus Christ, though he was rich, became poor, so that you by his poverty might become rich. (2 Corinthians 8:9) Jesus Christ, the “Son of God, love’s pure light,” came to make us heirs to the Kingdom of God.

The familiar simplicity of a song like Silent Night invites us to worship with child-like wonder at the kindness and gentleness of God who brought the Messiah into this world as a “holy infant, so tender and mild” to accomplish so great a salvation. Worship the One who was Lord at his birth, and who shall reign on, forever and ever, world without end. (Ephesians 3:21) Come, adore Christ for becoming poor so that we might become rich in grace.
