After spending five consecutive weeks on Billboard’s Top
Singles Sales chart right above Beyoncé and Kelly Rowland,
“American Idol” runner-up MANDISA is no stranger to radio
or mainstream press with debut single “Only the World”
from her Sparrow Records debut,
True Beauty. She recently
penned the story behind the hit for CCM readers…
“For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal
glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen,
but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen
is eternal.” (2 Corinthians 4:17-18)
Ever had a bad day? Sometimes I wish that once I had received
Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior that my road would be paved with
nothing but golden stones. But God never promised us an easy life.
We live in a fallen world, so problems are inevitable. What God does
promise us is that even the very worst of circumstances (war, death
of a loved one, terminal disease) pale in comparison to what we are
promised when we finally get to our eternal home. When I am faced
with impossible circumstances, I find peace in knowing that one day
I will see my Jesus face to face. Until then, I remember “it’s only the
world I’m living in!
