Jonathan Thulin: ‘Science Fiction’ album review

On his third studio project, Sweden-born/Nashville-based Jonathan Thulin ups the artistic and collaborative ante, turning in an intellectual batch of pop, rock, rap and R&B with several familiar friends. Meant to challenge believers to take their faith further and provide hope to pretty much anyone, Science Fiction has the potential to give the critically acclaimed singer/songwriter widespread attention. Besides his own beat-centric grooves and cinematic ballads, Thulin also explores the rhythmic rap of “Jekyll and Hyde” (with Rapture Ruckus), the alternative pop grandeur of “Mockingbird” (featuring Kevin Max & Shine Bright Baby) and the dance floor ready “Compass” (accompanied by Manwell of Group 1 Crew). Other guests include Moriah Peters, Derek Minor and Tauren Wells of Royal Tailor, adding further all-star appeal to Thulin’s already promising career.
